A glimpse of DavNor Sports & Tourism Complex

It’s 50 days to go to the Palarong Pambansa 2015, the biggest grassroots sporting event in the country where the cream of the crop of young athletes from all of the 17 regions of the country will come to compete in different games. It is the “Olympics of the Grassroots” and a much-awaited event that Governor Rodolfo P. del Rosario claimed to make the “best Palaro ever”.

My husband and I dropped by the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex yesterday. It is located across the Provincial Government Compound in Mankilam, Tagum City. This is the venue of most of the games.

The Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex is a sports complex that boasts of several sporting facilities including a 3,000-capacity main grandstand, a rubberized eight-track athletics oval, an Olympic size swimming pool with a warm up pool and two grandstands that can have over 500 people watching, four lawn tennis courts, an air-conditioned multi-purpose gymnasium that can be used for basketball, two football fields, and an archery range. Its spacious clubhouse has a good view of the swimming pools, the grandstands, the track oval and one football field. The complex also has a lighting system for night events.

A sports academy is included in the construction plan after the Palaro.

Here’s a glimpse of the main hub of the Palarong Pambansa 2015 which the Province of Davao del Norte is proud and excited to host on May 3-9, 2015.
