Little Boracay, Gateway to a Hideaway

In search of another summer adventure after Britania, my hubby chanced upon a blog entry of the famous Dabawenya, Jojie Alcantara about a place called "Little Boracay" in Sta. Maria, Davao del Sur. Thus, armed with guts and our family's sense of adventure, we set off early one fine morning.

Breathtaking Britania

It was time for another family summer breather and upon the encouragement of a dear friend, we decided to try going to Britania Islands in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur, approximately over 200 kilometers from Tagum where we live. We left Tagum around 8.25 a.m. and reached San Francisco, Agusan del Sur around 10.30 a.m. for brunch at a popular fastfood chain. After that, off we went to San Agustin, passing by the towns of Barobo and Lianga.

Is this the way to Cagwait (Kag-wa-it)?

We have heard of Cagwait. It has been touted as the Waikiki Beach of Mindanao. So, on our way to San Agustin, Davao del Sur, our family, on its summer lakwatsa again, decided to drive around 30 minutes farther up north to the town of Cagwait. The roads are paved rendering this place very accessible to tourists.

Map of Surigao del Sur. Cagwait is located on one of the coastal areas. It is on the way to Tandag.

Fun Philippines!

The Department of Tourism has a new campaign to boost the Tourism Industry of the country and usher in 12 million visitors by 2016. I believe it is not just the job of the Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Jr. to promote our country. Like managing our own trash, following traffic rules or doing our own jobs, it is every Filipino's duty to also promote his country in his own way. I hope I have done a little bit of mine in this blog. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
